Peaceful seascape. The brightly coloured beach boxes next to the muted greens of the trees caught my eye – Pete Pascoe
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Pete’s Acrylic Seascape Paintings are of scenes from around the State of Victoria. ‘I paint these scenes to bring a sense of peace into people’s homes and to remind us how beautiful Victoria’s coastline is.’ Pete chooses acrylics for the vibrant natural colours. Coming from a watercolour background, his use of semi-transparent washes over stronger colours suggest light and depth. The fast drying nature of the medium keeps Pete moving and helps give his paintings a fresh sense of immediacy. Free washes of clouds and water contrast with his fine detail of the yachts and beaches. The resulting realism, combined with the natural style and keeps the eye moving to the different points of focus.
Pete’s mastery of the fine details and use of colour creates realistic serene scenes with an emphasis on nature. Each painting invites the viewer to take a few relaxed breaths and be drawn into the scene.
Pete has had several successful solo exhibitions of his Seascape paintings and his commission work is in demand. His paintings can be found on the walls of homes and offices around the world.
Wearing many creative hats, so to speak, Pete is well known around Melbourne, having exhibited in many group art shows and through performances of his music at various festivals and gigs. He also presents his cartoon workshops art shows, schools and libraries.
